Fashion Styles of Le Dynasty Women by lilsuika Fashion Styles of Le Dynasty Women by lilsuika
Sorry for the long absence, had this done a while ago and am now uploading it here. Will try to respond to messages when I can...

Basically this is a timeline to illustrate what Le Dynasty Vietnamese women of different societal backgrounds (aristocratic vs. commonfolk) wore in the 16th-18th centuries. More figures will be added in the future. I am also in the process of reworking the Vietnamese and Chinese fashion timelines for better accuracy.

Do you have any references for a little earlier?  I'm looking for resources for Vietnamese clothing in the 1440-1470 range, any help you could give would be appreciated.

I'd like to mention something, even though I've commented on this one before.

The royal styles look especially fiery to me, with all the red, orange, gold, and decorative sashes and sleeve styles. Just a thought.

I've found another painting

This shows that the Ruqun was very common in Lê Trung Hưng period.

I think the outfit that Japanese men wore in some ceremonies was also a type of ruqun

lilsuka, thank you a lot for these valuable works! I see them resemble the statues and old paintings a lot.

I have an image that can provide better accuracy for figure 5 in the 2nd row. gallica.bnf.fr/ark:/12148/btv1…

This drawing has been duplicated (and colored) several times, each time some details might have been altered. In the original drawing, the second layer of the dress has two full length flaps whose width cover the entire front.

These are the duplicated paintings

Btw when you say Le dynasty from 16th to 18th century, do you mean the Lê Trung Hưng period? The Later Lê (Hậu Lê) dynasty started in 15th century and was overthrown by the Mac in the 16th century. Then a Trinh General restored the Le dynasty at the end of the 16th century. The restored Hậu Lê period is called Lê Trung Hưng. The one before that, in the 15th century, is called Lê Sơ.
