First 5 pages of my experimental oneshot comic. I've always wanted to try this interactive Flash/comic thingy, I think it's neat and gives off a different reading experience. Though I do understand that Flash can be annoying.

Just a preview/Wip draft for now. Once I finish, I might put up the whole story in this format.

I have always loved your work ever since I saw it from the Tokyopop rising star of manga competition! The relationship between these two are so wonderfully illustrated...

can't tell you how much I love your style.....and pretty guy in ponytail...XD

as always, beautiful work :)

although I think the semi-interactive medium doesn't really add anything, except for slight impression of clumsiness springing from less-than-perfect implementation on the tech side: it starts on page five? pages 20 and 21 are almost the same? link «read continuation at ...» doesn't work. etc. better get that under control :)

This was obviously not meant to be put into this format. Had I actually planned this beforehand the transitions and "interactivity" would probably be much better. Either way, the original form I intend Spring Snow to be seen is the way it's on my website.

It starts on "page 5" because there's a preloader before the content in the timeline. The weird numbering has something to do with the timeline and actionscript... which I have yet to fix because I'd rather work on the comic then spend hours messing with AS. And thank you for pointing out the duplicates and errors, I'll have to fix that when I get the time. :)

meant or not, I don't see any potential value emerging from interactive comics :) moving pictures are good for games, and imho comics are all about expressing stuff with static composition.

you could ask around some people with better implementation (I've seen those around), I'm sure they will be glad to share; making use of things that work instead of fixing ones that don't is the right way with programming anyway :)

Yeah, you've got a lot of good points.

I was more or less inspired by Platinum Grit: [link] I personally liked reading the comic panel by panel as I felt that it gave me a different reading experience, and the flash format never bugged me. So it inspired me to try it out for my own comic.

And the other reasoning was because I wanted to put the comic pages into one nice singular format vs. having to upload multiple pages to deviantart and then go back and link the pages.

In either case, I'm not forcing anyone to read the comic in this way. Why else would I have a static, non flash version on my webpage? :)

well, have fun experimenting, no matter what I (or anyone) say :)

I can understand the idea of a drawn story more interactive than a comic, but I'm always slyghtly annoyed at nagging technical roughiness of interactive stuff in browser, I'm kinda old school (download new plugin? no way!) ^^; I think for interactive stuff I would be fine with standalone applications (visual novel format?), allowing for more freedom and actually expected to make use of it.

oh, and the dated, crippled deviantart software which can't display art! so trendy!~
I wonder if pixiv folks laugh at us :)

And now I'm curious as to what happens :>

I really like the character interaction ' u '

I wonder why the woman in the first page has a skelatonized hand? Is it related to the story?

Her skeletal hand is supposed to be a clue that she is no longer among the living. It was my way of trying to hint that this eventually was going to be a ghost story. I must've failed though. Lol.

yup. well, I guess if we're talking about people who know an love ghost stories... but for people whose folklore doesn't even have the slightest notion of «ghost», the clue is at least ambiguous :) (the articale doesn't mention it, but the character is frquently told of as having «a leg of bones»).
